I know a majority of people are in a financial bind due to the economy and might even feel that with the gift-giving season there’s no room to give a little more – especially to those already less fortunate.
Well, you’re wrong. Through the “Be a Voice for Darfur” campaign, you can help end the suffering, the genocide, violence and rape occurring in Darfur.
President-Elect Obama pledged an “unstinting resolve” to end the Darfur genocide.
My colleague Qui notes: “The campaign aims for no less than 1 million postcards to be sent to Obama’s attention within his first 100 days in office. Postcard signatures are due by Inauguration Day – January 20, 2009. The postcards will be printed and delivered to the Whitehouse later in the Spring, complete with a rally. An un-dissmissable reminder that this issue matters to Americans, and our President.”
All you have to do is sign the petition at www.addyourvoice.org or through Save Darfur’s Facebook Petition Page and spread the word via Twitter (use hashtag: #voice4darfur) or email your family and friends. I encourage you to get involved and help make a difference.
As a Gen X/Y-er, it is important to raise awareness for efforts such as saving Darfur. You saw how vital and pivotal our votes were for the Presidential campaign. Let’s show our country that we care.
We’ve already generated over 200,000 signatures for this campaign. Let’s show the world that America is a Voice for Darfur.
